Jesus Is God Eternal

The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the End,
The First and the Last

The terms Alpha and Omega give a beautiful, awesome description of God. Long before the stars filled the heavens and our universe existed, God, was!  He is from everlasting to everlasting.  Genesis says, In the Beginning God…God alone deserves the titles Alpha ( the first ) and Omega ( the last ) Beginning and End!

Thus, these names express the eternal nature of God. He is the source and goal of all creation. No created being could ever rightfully claim to be the first and last of all that is.

Jesus and God are both called the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, in ScriptureThese Scriptures below refer to God the Father, Jehovah God, Hebrew text, where he states that he alone is first and last, beginning and end, Alpha and Omega.  Besides him there is no other God. He is the one who is, who was and who is coming quickly!

Isaiah 41:4 NASB    "  Who has performed and accomplished it, Calling forth the generations from the beginning?    I, the LORD, am the first, and with the last.   I am He.'

Isaiah 44:6   " Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:  'I am the first and I am the last,   And there is no God besides Me.

Isaiah 48:12   "Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called;
I am He, I am the first, I am also the last.

Revelation 1:8  "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Revelation 21:6   Then He said to me, "It is done I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.

Quotes from Josh Mcdowells bookJesus A Biblical Defense of His Deity”

Note that the Scriptures below refer to Jesus where he states that he is the first and last, beginning and end, Alpha and Omega.   It also says He is the Living One, he became dead, but is Alive forever more and holds the keys to death in his hands.  That is a powerful statement.  Who was it that Died?  It was not God the father!  See for yourself!

Revelation 1:17-18   When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18  and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have  the keys of death and of Hades.

Revelation 2:8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

Revelation 22:12-21 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying. 16 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."

17The Spirit and the bride say, "Come " And let the one who hears say, "Come " And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. 18  I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. 20  He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly " Amen Come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.

The significance of the above passages in the book of Revelation cannot be underestimated. They are some of the strongest and clearest examples of Christ's claim to deity. There cannot be Two Firsts and Two Lasts, Two Alphas and Omegas

Thank you Jesus, for dieing for us, that we might have life eternal with you, as you are the First and the Last the Living One who died but is alive forever more.
